Study Skills

Hello! Salut! My name is Nicole Ferguson and I am a sophomore at the University of Michigan who is studying English and French and pursuing a secondary teaching certificate for these disciplines. Through the National Honor Society, I started tutoring, and I now have a solid two years of tutoring experience for all ages in my pocket. I genuinely enjoy tutoring, because I like helping people succeed in learning and developing academic skills. I tutor because I am interested in going into education, and I understand it is a valuable way to develop my teaching skills. In high school, I took Advanced Placement English, Government, Biology and Psychology, making high marks in each course and corresponding exam.

In high school, I also took French and actively pursued it in my free time: I now have a nice collection of French resources, books, and music! Like I said, I still continue to study Franais at the University. I scored well on my ACT and I am competent in the disciplines of Math, Science, and History. I can help in any of these disciplines and I sure can help with study skills!

Additional Qualifications:

I have taken English elective courses in creative writing, the humanities and newspaper: all have helped me develop myself as a writer, proofreader, and have lead me to appreciate writing more.

I wrote for my high school newspaper for three years, and was eventually Editor in Chief of the web. I also attended journalism camp for two summers--yes I was that cool kid: and I enjoyed every minute of it, well maybe--yes, definitely.

I worked as a sleep-away camp counselor this past summer: I love working with people and I am a very patient person!

To affirm that I do more with my life, other than study, the activities I enjoy in my free time are guitar, listening to music, backpacking, singing, bicycling, swing-dancing, volunteering, and of course reading! (in both French and English!)

As an English tutor, I strive to help my tutees achieve their academic goals. To reach these goals, I develop a personalized curriculum, based off of personal concerns and desires, and often the thoughts of previous teachers. If you need a tutor, who is encouraging, patient, passionate, and of good-humor then contact me!
